Peace With God- God's Plan For Forgiveness

1. God Loves You

This Truth transcends your past failures, your current feelings, your present circumstances, or your fears about the future.

God's love is not a warm feeling because feelings can change. God's love is the deepest kind of love. The essence of this love required sacrificial proof of His unfailing compassion towards us. His love went on a rescue mission for humanity.

God proved His love for us all, by giving Jesus Christ, His Son, for our salvation.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2. The Universal Condition of Humanity

We are sinners against God in our basic nature, in our deeds, thoughts, attitudes, and words. We see when we harm others with our deeds, thoughts, attitudes, and words. We also trespass against God when we do these things.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Further evidence we are all sinners in need of forgiveness:

a. We all will die one day. Death exists in the world because of sin. Were it not for sin, death would not be present in the world.

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

b. We naturally love the dark pleasures of our sin, and run from God, from the light of Who He Is, and from the Truth of His Word.

Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Joh 3:18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

c. We live under condemnation, we are doomed to the punishment which our sins righteously and justly deserve.

We would not agree with a judge who refused to punish those who break the law. We would be outraged, actually.

God is the Judge of all the earth. He cannot ignore the evil in this world. We will all one day be judged for everything we've done in our bodies.

1Co 4:5  Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

This verse means He will one day openly show the the counsels of our hearts and judge our hidden things.

3. Believe on Jesus Christ

Yes, God has a righteous responsibility to judge the sin and evil humanity has willingly committed.

The Good News is, God HAS judged that sin, evil, and wickedness in the Perfect, Innocent, and Righteous Substitute of His Son, Jesus Christ.

This happened on that day Jesus died on the cross.

Yes, we are all guilty sinners before God. That is why we do not have peace.

Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Rom 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

But God has provided an escape from judgment, to peace with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

"Propitiation" means "appeasement" and "satisfactory payment".

Rom 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Rom 3:26  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

4. Proof

We all want proof if we are going to radically change our core beliefs and values.

Jesus died for our sins.

BUT He also rose from the dead. This is called the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This was the authenticating proof of the Person and Message of Jesus Christ.

To believe on Jesus is not foolishness. Actually, with such compelling proof the opposite is true. Choosing not to trust Christ requires walking past mountains of evidence.

1Co 15:3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1Co 15:4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1Co 15:5  And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

1Co 15:6  After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

1Co 15:7  After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

1Co 15:8  And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Both the Biblical record and the Historical record prove that Jesus rose from the dead. The tomb He was buried in was empty. Not only that, He showed Himself alive to many people, on many occasions. It is not here-say, rumour, or myth. It is a fact that requires a decision.

5. Give Jesus your heart.

In faith and trust, give your heart to Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. This is what is meant by "believing in Jesus."

Understand we are "justified freely by His grace."

This "justified" means we will be purified by simple faith in Christ alone.

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is not through religion, baptism, church membership, or good deeds.

Forgiveness is not obtained through being a good person.

This forgiveness is undeserved, which is the definition of "grace".

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You must ask Jesus to save you.

At that moment, you are forgiven and you will receive God's peace.

Eph 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Eph 2:14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
